Kansas City Royals +108 / Cleveland Indians -118 O/U: 9.5
The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals will match up on the MLB diamond to finish their series on Thursday.
In the Tuesday opener, the Indians took a 9-5 victory. On Wednesday, Cleveland managed a 4-0 shutout.
For Thursday’s game, the Indians will be bringing out Zach Plesac for the start. Across his 42.1 innings and 3-3 record this year, Plesac has a 3.61 ERA with 32 Ks and 14 BBs.
Cleveland put up eight hits on Wednesday. Roberto Perez posted a two-run homer and plated two runs there.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Homer Bailey in the start Thursday. Bailey has 85.0 innings and a 7-6 record so far alongside a 4.87 ERA, 78 Ks and 36 BBs.
KC logged five hits on Wednesday but couldn’t translate anything to the scoreboard. Alex Gordon and Whit Merrifield each finished 2-for-4.
The Indians are 5-0 in their last five in game three of a series and 51-24 in the last 75 Thursday games. The under is 9-3 in Cleveland’s last 12 Thursday games as well.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 17-56 in their last 73 in game three of a series and 4-0 in Baley’s last four starts on grass. KC is 5-1 in Bailey’s last six starts versus the AL Central and 4-1 in his last five starts.
Plesac had a nice run of four quality starts in five tries going (3-2 in that time), but hit the wall in Baltimore his last time up with seven earned in 3.2 innings.
As for Bailey, he had a tough one as well his last time on the mound with five earned in 5.0 innings—but still managed a no-decision.
Both of these guys are better pitchers than their last starts indicated, so this should be a good matchup really. I’m leaning slightly toward Bailey and the Royals here but staying away.
