The Line: Kansas City Royals +190 / Houston Astros -205 --- Over/Under: 9
Saturday afternoon out at Kauffman Stadium, we’ve got another installment of the MLB series between the Houston Astros and the Kansas City Royals.
In the Friday opener, the Astros scored four runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 7-3 victory.
For Saturday’s game, the Astros will be going with LHP Dallas Keuchel. In his 85.0 innings and 3-8 record this year, Keuchel has a 4.45 ERA with 66 Ks and 22 BBs.
Jose Altuve is the big bat for the Astros this year with 96 hits, 43 runs and 35 RBI entering this set. On Friday, Altuve had a hit and a run.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with LHP Danny Duffy on Saturday. Across 76.2 innings and a 5.28 ERA with 64 Ks, Duffy has a 3-6 record this season.
Lead hitter Whit Merrifield had 75 hits, 31 runs and 22 RBI for the Royals entering this series, then on Friday Merrifield came up empty 0-for-3.
The Astros are 44-21 in their last 65 in game two of a series and 4-1 in Keuchel’s last five road starts. Houston is also 6-2 in Keuchel’s last eight Saturday starts and 3-10 in his last 13 starts with five days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 3-7 in their last 10 Saturday games and 3-8 in their last 11 in game two of a series. KC is also 1-5 in Duffy’s last six home starts and 4-11 in his last 15 starts.
Over the last two starts he’s made, Keuchel has given up 12 earned on 20 hits over 11.0 innings, marking a trend of giving up at least four earned in four of his last five outings. Duffy has some stinkers on his resume this year, but lately he’s put up three quality starts in his last four appearances. I may be crazy, but this looks like an okay spot to take the Royals on a value play.
