Kansas City Royals +120 / Minnesota Twins -130 O/U: 7.5
The Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals will match up to kick off their MLB set on Tuesday.
The Twins will be going with RHP Jose Berrios in the opener Tuesday. In his first action of the season, Berrios logged 7.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and zero earned for a 2-0 victory over the Indians back on March 28.
Leading the way offensively for the Twins so far is Byron Buxton, with four hits, three doubles and two RBI to his credit. Nelson Cruz has also started off well with four hits, two runs, one homer and three RBI.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Brad Keller on Tuesday. In his first game of the year, Keller came up with 7.0 innings, two hits, five strikeouts and a win 5-3 versus the White Sox.
Jorge Soler is the top hitter for the Royals right now with his five hits, three doubles and five RBI. Sitting in second is Adalberto Mondesi with four hits, two runs, three triples and three RBI.
The Twins are 8-1 in their last nine overall and 4-0 in Berrios’ last four Tuesday starts. Minnesota is 6-2 in Berrios’ last eight in game one of a series and 5-21 in his last 26 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 9-3 in the last 12 in game one of a series and 17-6 in their last 23 road games. KC is 5-0 in Keller’s last five home starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts.
Berrios had a few pretty good outings to finish off 2018 (three of four with two earned runs or fewer) and he’s starting off this season pretty well also.
As for Keller, his 2018 ended with four out of his final five games tallying two earned runs or fewer, so he’s been on a great clip as well.
This should be a pretty fun pitching battle, but in the end I’m going to take the Royals on a razor-close home victory since the number is pretty good. The under probably seems like the smartest play in this whole situation, though.
