MLB | Seattle Mariners (4-3) at Kansas City Royals (2-5)

Coming up Tuesday evening out at Kauffman Stadium, the Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals will be meeting up to continue their MLB series.

In the Monday opener, the Royals demolished the Mariners with a 10-0 shutout victory. KC out-hit Seattle 13-2 in that one.

For Tuesday’s game, the Mariners are going with Felix Hernandez for the start. In his 9.1 innings and 1-1 record so far, Hernandez has a 7.71 ERA with five Ks.

Heading into this series, the leading hitters for Seattle were Robinson Cano, Jean Segura and Dee Gordon, each with 11 hits. In the Monday game, Gordon put up one hit while Cano and Segura combined to go 0-for-6.

Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Eric Skoglund on Tuesday. Last year in 18.0 innings pitched for KC, Skoglund put up a 1-2 record and a 9.50 ERA.

Coming into this set, the Royals’ leading hitter was Jon Jay with seven hits, three runs, one triple and one RBI. On Monday, Jay had a hit and a run while Mike Moustakas logged three hits, three RBI, a homer and two runs.

The Mariners are 4-1 in Hernandez’s last five road starts and 5-2 in Hernandez’s last seven starts. Seattle is also 3-7 in Hernandez’s last 10 starts with five days’ rest and 2-5 in his last seven Tuesday starts.

Meanwhile, the Royals are 8-1 in the last nine during game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games. KC is also 0-4 in Skoglund’s last four starts and the under is 4-0 in the Royals’ last four Tuesday games.

Hernandez has seen both ends of the pitching spectrum this year already, as he’s got one really good start and one awful start to his credit. We haven’t seen Skoglund yet this year, but it will be interesting to see how he’s developed. All things considered however, I trust Hernandez more here so I’m going Mariners.

Seattle Mariners -120
