Kansas City, Missouri
Seattle Mariners -132 / Kansas City Royals +112
The Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals will match up to continue their MLB series on Wednesday.
In game one of this set Monday, the Mariners took a commanding 13-5 victory. On Tuesday, Seattle kept it going with a 6-3 win.
For the Wednesday game, Seattle will be sending out Yusei Kikuchi for the start. Across three games, 15.2 innings and a 4.02 ERA, Kikuchi has 15 hits allowed and 12 strikeouts.
DH Daniel Vogelbach had a solid day for the Mariners on Tuesday, with a 3-for-5 line and a run scored. Jay Bruce also ripped a homer and had two RBI for Seattle there.
Over on the Royals side, they're going with Heath Fillmyer in the start Wednesday. This will be Fillmyer's first start of the season following his call-up from Triple-A ball.
Kansas City’s Alex Gordon put up two hits on Tuesday, and Whit Merrifield plated a run with two hits.
The Mariners are 8-2 in their last 10 in game three of a series and the over is 4-0 in their last four Wednesday games. The over is 5-2 in Seattle’s last seven in game three of a series and they’re 14-3 in the last 17 overall.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games and 9-44 in their last 53 in game three of a series. The under is 4-1 in KC’s last five Wednesday games and 4-1 in the last five versus a left-handed starter.
Kikuchi looked lost in his first couple of innings his last time out, giving up six runs (four earned) in two frames, then settling down for three scoreless innings after that.
We’ve seen quite a bit of Kikuchi so far this year when compared to other pitchers, since the Mariners’ season started so early. It’s a microscopic sample size, but his earned runs and ERA have ballooned with each game. Still, I expect Kikuchi to settle down here and get behind the offense for a Mariners road win.
