The Line: Kansas City Royals +128 / Seattle Mariners -138 --- Over/Under: 8
Out at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday, the Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals will be wrapping up their MLB series.
In the Monday opener of this set, the Royals posted a 10-0 blowout win. On Tuesday, the Mariners got even again with an 8-3 victory.
On Wednesday, the Mariners will be bringing out LHP James Paxton. In his 9.2 innings and 0-1 record this year, Paxton has a 7.45 ERA with 11 Ks.
Heading into game two of this set, Dee Gordon led the Mariners on 12 hits, four runs, a homer and three RBI. In the Tuesday game, Jean Segura put up three hits, two runs and three RBI.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with lefty Danny Duffy in the start Wednesday. Across 9.2 innings and an 0-2 record this year, Duffy has a 7.45 ERA with eight Ks.
Coming out of the Monday game, Mike Moustakas led the Royals with nine hits, five runs, two doubles, a homer and five RBI. On Tuesday, Moustakas put up two hits, a homer and three RBI.
The Mariners are 1-5 in their last six during game three of a series and 1-5 in their last six Wednesday games. Seattle is also 4-0 in Paxton’s last four Wednesday starts and 1-6 in his last seven starts.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 12-4 in their last 16 Wednesday games and 0-4 in their last four during game three of a series. KC is also 29-14 in Duffy’s last 43 home starts and 1-4 in his last five starts.
Neither starting pitcher has been too great so far this year, so this game may turn into a high-scoring affair relatively quickly. That will probably swing the advantage toward the Mariners, provided they show up. I’m tentatively going Seattle here, but the play is probably the over.
