Kansas City Royals +105 / Seattle Mariners -125 O/U: 9
The Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their series on Tuesday.
In the Monday game one, the Mariners’ bats really got going, carrying the team to a 13-5 blowout.
For the Tuesday game, the Mariners will be sending out lefty Marco Gonzales. In his 19.2 innings and 3-0 mark this season, Gonzales has a 3.20 ERA with 11 Ks and three walks.
Big Mariners stick Edwin Encarnacion bagged two homers on Monday, with four total RBI. Domingo Santana also had a great game for Seattle on three hits, four RBI and one run.
Over on the Royals’ side, Tuesday they’re sending out Jakob Junis for the start. Junis has put up 11.2 innings this year with a 1-0 record and a 4.63 ERA.
In KC’s Monday loss, Whit Merrifield didn’t have too bad of a game in the leadoff spot, going 2-for-4 with a run. Alex Gordon also put up two hits, adding two RBI as well in four at-bats.
The Mariners are 6-1 in their last seven in game two of a series and 2-10 in their last 12 Tuesday games. Seattle is 4-1 in Gonzales’ last five starts and 3-7 in his last 10 starts on grass.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 4-1 in Junis’ last five home starts and 5-1 in his last six Tuesday starts. Kansas City is 7-15 in Junis’ last 22 starts and 11-2 in his last 13 starts in game two of a series.
This season, Gonzales has one okay start (5.1 innings; nine hits; three earned) and one great start (8.1 innings; four hits; one earned). Over his past seven starts dating back to last season, Gonzales hasn’t given up more than three earned in an appearance.
As for Junis, he’s been pretty solid as well—just not stellar—with three quality starts in his last four, also dating back to last season. I don’t expect Junis to tank here or anything, but up against Gonzales I have to go with the Mariners in this one.
