Kansas City Royals +185 / Tampa Bay Rays -200 O/U: 8
The Tampa Bay Rays and the Kansas City Royals will meet up for game two of a doubleheader in MLB action Wednesday.
In the Monday opener of this set, the Rays put up four runs in the first two innings on the way to an 8-5 victory. Tuesday's game was rained out and pushed back a day. Stay tuned for any further pitching or scheduling changes.
For the Wednesday game two, Tampa will be going with Blake Snell in the start. In his 28.1 innings and 2-2 record this year, Snell has a 2.54 ERA with 39 Ks and six walks.
The Rays’ Tommy Phamm logged a triple in the win Monday, adding two RBI and one run. Brandon Lowe also plated three runs for Tampa there.
Over on the Royals’ side, they were going to be going with Jakob Junis on Tuesday, but he's been pushed back to Monday's game one. We're looking at a Triple-A call-up for Glen Sparkman here.
Kansas City’s Adalberto Mondesi put up a triple in Monday’s game, and finished with two hits, two RBI and a run.
The Rays are 20-6 in their last 26 road games and 16-5 in their last 21 in game two of a series. Tampa is 11-4 in their last 15 Wednesday games and 47-20 in their last 67 overall.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 9-19 in the last 28 Wednesday games and 7-20 in their last 27 overall. KC is 14-37 in their last 51 versus the AL East and 4-10 in their last 14 home games.
After something of a rocky start to the season, Snell has been doing pretty well with just three earned over his 22.1 innings since kicking things off in 2019.
All things considered though, I like Snell here and with the Rays playing inspired baseball to begin the season, things are looking good for Tampa. It's tough to sweep a doubleheader but these guys just might do it Wednesday.
