The Line: Kansas City Royals -105 / Tampa Bay Rays -105 --- Over/Under: 9
Coming our way Wednesday from Kauffman Stadium, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Kansas City Royals will be meeting up in MLB activity.
The Rays took the Monday game of this set 2-1. On Tuesday, The Rays scored three times in the first inning and had to hang on for a wild 6-5 win.
For the Wednesday game, the Rays will be bringing out RHP Jake Faria. In his 40.2 innings and 3-2 record this year, Faria has a 5.09 ERA with 33 Ks and 17 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Rays coming into Tuesday was CJ Cron with 42 hits, 20 runs and 23 RBI with eight homers. On Tuesday, Cron hit a two-run homer.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re going with Jason Hammel on Wednesday. In his 47.0 innings and 0-4 record this year, Hammel has a 6.13 ERA with 25 Ks and 16 BBs.
The top KC hitter entering play Tuesday was Mike Moustakas with 48 hits, 25 runs, 10 homers and 29 RBI. In the Tuesday game, Moustakas had two hits and a run.
The Rays are 3-7 in their last 10 during game three of a series and 4-10 in their last 14 Wednesday games. Tampa is also 4-1 in Faria’s last five starts and 7-3 in his last 10 starts on grass.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 7-21 in their last 28 during game three of a series and 0-5 in their last five Wednesday games. KC is also 1-4 in Hammel’s last five home starts and 1-7 in his last eight starts.
Faria had a couple of good starts going there but faltered in Baltimore his last time up with seven earned on eight hits in 6.0 innings. Hammel has been worse though, with 17 earned in two of his last three starts combined. I can’t put any weight behind that so I’m going Rays here.
