Kansas City Royals -120 / Texas Rangers +110 O/U: 9.5
The Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals will meet up on the MLB diamond to kick off their series on Tuesday.
The Rangers are coming off a weekend set against the Astros. Texas lost all four of those games, dropping 4-2 Thursday, 3-0 Friday, 11-4 Saturday and 15-5 on Sunday. Needless to say, the Rangers are glad that one’s over.
For the Tuesday matchup, the Rangers will be sending out Shelby Miller in the start. Over his 1-2 record Miller has a 7.48 ERA with 19 strikeouts to his credit.
Over on the Royals side, they played a three-game set versus the Phillies this past weekend. Kansas City took Friday’s game 5-1, but lost the other two games of that series 7-0 and 6-1 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
KC is going to be going with Danny Duffy on Tuesday. With a 1-1 record so far, Duffy has compiled a 3.06 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
The under is 5-0 in Texas’ last five versus Kansas City and 5-0 in their last five road games versus the Royals. Texas is 119-121 versus the money line in road games after three or more consecutive losses since 1997 and KC is 311-438 versus the money line at home when the total is 9 to 9.5 since 1997.
Miller hasn’t been so great on the road this year, where he’s 0-1 with an 8.18 ERA, and he hasn’t faced the Royals since way back in 2014 when he was on the Cardinals’ roster.
As for Duffy, he helped carry the Royals to a big 12-2 win over the Astros last week, giving up two runs across 6.2 innings on six hits.
I like Duffy to come out strong here and help KC carve out a victory.
