Kansas City Royals -130 / Toronto Blue Jays +120 O/U: 10.5
The Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals will match up on the MLB diamond to begin their series Monday.
The Jays are coming off a series against the Rays. Toronto split the first two games of that set 3-1 (loss) Friday and 10-9 (win) Saturday. In the Sunday finale, the Jays fell in a tough one 10-9, giving up all 10 runs in the final five frames.
For Monday’s game, the Jays will send out Thomas Pannone in the start. Over his 43.2 innings and 2-4 mark so far, Pannone has a 6.39 ERA with 43 Ks and 22 BBs.
Over on the Royals’ side, they’re fresh off a series against the Indians. KC fell 5-4, 8-3 and 9-1 in the first three games of that set. On Sunday, the Royals prevented the sweep with a 9-6 win.
Kansas City will go with Brad Keller in the start on Monday. Over his 132.0 innings and 7-9 record this year, Keller has a 3.94 ERA with 94 Ks and 58 BBs.
The Blue Jays are 17-35 in their last 52 in game one of a series and 5-17 in their last 22 Monday games. Toronto is 1-4 in Pannone’s last five starts on grass and the over is 7-0 in their last seven Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 6-20 in the last 26 Monday games and 5-0 in Keller’s last five starts. KC is 0-4 in Keller’s last four Monday starts and 2-5 in his last seven starts in game one of a series.
Pannone’s first start coming out of the pen was in Boston, and he gave up five hits with four earned in 4.1 innings. Across his last 8.2 innings (two appearances against the Red Sox), he’s given up eight earned.
As for Keller, he’s riding a three-game win streak, with three quality starts over 21.1 innings and three earned runs. I like him to keep it going here, so I’m going with the Royals.
