|Date & Time||Saturday July 21, 2018, 7:15 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Los Angeles Angels +150 / Houston Astros -160 --- Over/Under: 8
The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels meet Saturday in MLB action at Angels Stadium.
The Houston Astros look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last eight games. The Astros have scored 15 runs in their last three games and three or more runs in seven straight games. The Houston Astros have won 10 of their last 13 games when scoring at least one run. Jose Altuve leads the Astros with 130 hits and 45 RBI while Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel have combined for 205 hits and 116 RBI. Justin Verlander gets the ball, and he is 9-5 with a 2.29 ERA and 172 strikeouts this season. Verlander is 10-8 with a 3.12 ERA and 129 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels could also use a victory here after splitting their last 12 games. The Angels have scored nine runs in their last three games and three or less runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Los Angeles Angels have lost five straight games when scoring three or less runs. Mike Trout leads the Angels with 104 hits and 50 RBI while Andrelton Simmons and Justin Upton have combined for 189 hits and 95 RBI. Nick Tropeano gets the ball, and he is 3-4 with a 4.83 ERA and 44 strikeouts this season. Tropeano is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his career against the Astros.
The Astros are 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games, 4-1 in Verlanders last 5 road starts and 21-10 in Verlanders last 31 starts. The Angels are 11-5 in their last 16 home games, 7-3 in Tropeanos last 10 starts vs. American League West and 7-3 in Tropeanos last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record. The Astros are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Los Angeles, 4-0 in Verlanders last 4 starts vs. Angels and the under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings.
We're getting a fairly decent price with one of the best pitchers in the world in Verlander, who has been pretty much unhittable all season long and has allowed three or less runs in seven of his last 10 starts. Verlander is allowing a .184 batting average this season and has a 1.88 ERA on the road. You usually get Verlander and the Astros at insane prices to the point you have no choice but to lay the RL, but the juice isn't troo crazy here. Tropeano has given up 13 hits and 10 runs in his last nine innings. Give me the Houston Astros and the fairly decent price with their ace on the mound.
