|Date & Time||Friday June 28, 2019, 10:07 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Oakland Athletics / Los Angeles Angels -- Over/Under:
The Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Angels meet Friday in MLB action at Angel Stadium.
The Oakland Athletics look for a win after winning seven of their last 10 games. The Athletics have scored 12 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last 10 games. The Oakland Athletics have lost five of their last seven games when scoring three or less runs. Marcus Semien leads the Athletics with 90 hits and 40 RBI while Matt Chapman and Ramon Laureano have combined for 158 hits and 81 RBI. Mike Fiers gets the ball, and he is 7-3 with a 4.20 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. Fiers is 5-4 with a 5.19 ERA and 51 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels look for another win after winning eight of their last 12 games. The Angels have scored 18 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 13 games. The Los Angeles Angels have won seven of their last nine games when scoring four or more runs. Mike Trout leads the Angels with 81 hits and 57 RBI while Tommy La Stella and David Fletcher have combined for 159 hits and 74 RBI. Felix Pena gets the ball, and he is 5-2 with a 4.68 ERA and 68 strikeouts this season. Pena is 0-2 with a 11.81 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Athletics are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series, 8-3 in Fiers' last 11 starts with 5 days of rest and 4-0 in Fiers' last 4 starts. The Angels are 4-0 in their last 4 home games, 5-2 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series and 0-5 in their last 5 Friday games. The Athletics are 9-19 in the last 28 meetings in Los Angeles and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. The under is 4-1 in Angels last 5 overall. The under is 4-1 in Fiers' last 5 starts overall.
Fiers has been extremely sharp in the month of June where he's allowed seven earned runs through 24.2 innings, and he's shutdown these Angels twice this season. The problem is Fiers has a 5.62 ERA and a .259 allowed batting average in 41.2 innings on the road this season. This is also easily the best baseball the Los Angeles Angels have played this season and they're a team we've backed often during this winning stretch. I've said before that I like what I'm seeing from these Angels and they're a team to watch in the second half when it comes to the wild card race. Give me the Angels for a fifth straight victory.
