Los Angeles, California
The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks +194 / Los Angeles Dodgers -210 -- Over/Under: 7.5
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Sunday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.
The Arizona Diamondbacks hope to remove the shock of giving up 18 runs in Saturday’s loss and now 34 runs in their first three games. The Diamondbacks have simply been getting tattooed in this series and have five pitchers who have allowed three or more earned runs. We knew it was a rebuilding year for the Diamondbacks, but this will be a painful rebuild if it continues. The Arizona Diamondbacks have allowed double-digit runs in four of their last 17 games. Adam Jones leads the Diamondbacks with five hits and two RBI while David Peralta and Christian Walker have combined for eight hits and seven RBI. Luke Weaver gets the ball, and he was 7-11 with a 4.95 ERA and 121 strikeouts last season. Weaver is 1-0 with a 7.71 ERA and four strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers made up for Friday’s frustrating loss and hope to keep things rolling before rival San Francisco comes to town. The Dodgers are getting whatever they want offensively and have hit 13 homers in three games while batting .347 as a team. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a chance to win three of their first four games for the third time in the last four years. Joc Pederson leads the Dodgers with seven hits and five RBI while Cody Bellinger and Austin Barnes have combined for 12 hits and 10 RBI. Walker Buehler gets the ball, and he was 8-5 with a 2.62 ERA and 151 strikeouts last season. Buehler is 0-0 with a 2.19 ERA and 14 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 1-6 in their last 7 during game 4 of a series, 0-5 in their last 5 Sunday games and 6-15 in their last 21 vs. National League West. The Dodgers are 15-7 in their last 22 Sunday games, 35-16 in their last 51 vs. National League West and 4-1 in Buehler's last 5 home starts. The Diamondbacks are 15-36 in the last 51 meetings in Los Angeles and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. The under is 12-1-1 in Buehler's last 14 home starts. The over is 4-1 in Diamondbacks last 5 vs. National League West.
The Arizona Diamondbacks pitchers have provided very little help in this series and now they're throwing out a pitcher in Weaver who had an ERA of 4.95 with an allowed batting average of .277 last season. It's been batting practice for the Los Angeles Dodgers this series and it's probably not going to stop Sunday. Oh, Buehler was just one of the most consistent pitchers in the NL last year, which included an ERA of 1.93 and an allowed batting average of .174 at home. The Dodgers have won seven of the last 10 regular season home games in which Buehler has pitched. Dodgers win yet again.
