The Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -190 / Atlanta Braves +180 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves face off on Monday at Dodgers Stadium for game one of their MLB series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to lead the National League West though their play of late hasn’t helped them. The Dodgers are 4-6 in their last 10 games, 19-6 at home, and they have a two game lead in the NL West over the Giants. As a team the Dodgers are hitting .258 with Adrian Gonzalez hitting .342, Howie Kendrick hitting .293, and Andre Ethier hitting .304. The Dodgers pitching staff has an ERA of 3.15 with the starters at 3.43 and the bullpen at 2.56. For game one against the Braves the Dodgers start Brett Anderson who has allowed 48 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 31 over 42.1 innings for a 2-2 record and a 3.61 ERA.
The Atlanta Braves are playing their best baseball of the season and they are a game over .500. The Braves are 7-3 in their last 10 games, 10-11 on the road, and they are 3.5 games behind the Nationals in the NL East. As a team the Braves are hitting .253 with Nick Markakis hitting .308, Freddie Freeman hitting .297, and Jace Peterson hitting .265. The Braves pitching staff has an ERA of 4.08 with the starters at 4.03 and the bullpen at 4.15. For game one against the Dodgers the Braves start Williams Perez who has allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out nine over 7.1 innings with no record and a 6.14 ERA.
The Dodgers are 27-11 in Monday games, 12-5 against the NL East, and 49-24 as a favorite. Atlanta is 7-2 in their last nine games, 5-2 as an underdog, and 1-9 against the NL West. Atlanta is 1-8 in their last nine games against Los Angeles.
I am not loving this game as the price on the Dodgers makes them a bad bet but the Braves don’t get it done on the West Coast so while I won’t be playing it my pick here is the Dodgers.
