The Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -180 / Chicago Cubs +170 --- Over/Under: 7
The Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Thursday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.
The Chicago Cubs could use a win here after losing six of their last seven games. The Cubs have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and four or ore runs in eight of their last 11 games. The Chicago Cubs have lost eight of their last nine games when allowing more than one run. Offensively, Javier Baez leads the Cubs with 77 hits and 56 RBI while Kris Bryant and Albert Almora Jr. have combined for 146 hits and 58 RBI. Jose Quintana gets the ball, and he is 6-6 with a 4.26 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. Quintana is 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers look to stay hot after winning 10 of their last 14 games. The Dodgers have scored 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last nine games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 11 of their last 12 games when scoring more than one run. Matt Kemp leads the Dodgers with 75 hits and 47 RBI while Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger have combined for 141 hits and 70 RBI. Clayton Kershaw gets the ball, and he is 1-4 with a 2.94 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. Kershaw is 5-3 with a 2.64 ERA and 74 strikeouts in his career against the Cubs.
The Cubs are 38-14 in their last 53 Thursday games, 1-6 in their last 7 road games and 1-5 in Quintanas last 6 starts vs. National League West. The Dodgers are 6-2 in their last 8 home games, 50-14 in Kershaws last 64 home starts and 58-18 in Kershaws last 76 starts. The Cubs are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in Los Angeles, 4-9 in the last 13 meetings and the Dodgers are 6-1 in Kershaws last 7 home starts vs. Cubs.
The Chicago Cubs are always worth a look at big plus money given how good of a team they are and the fact they usually always have a chance each night. The problem is the Cubs offense has been struggling big time as of late and they've lost eight of their last nine when allowing more than one run because of it. Taking that into consideration with Kershaw on the hill for the Dodgers, and this doesn't feel like the game the Cubs are going to turn things around. I'll take the Dodgers here with the RL to add value to the bet.
