The Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Sunday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.
The Houston Astros look for another victory to build on their four-game winning streak. The Astros have scored 24 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in six of their last 12 games. The Houston Astros have won six of their last nine games when scoring at least three runs. Jose Altuve leads the Astros with 134 hits and 46 RBI while Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel have combined for 223 hits and 127 RBI. Gerrit Cole gets the ball, and he is 10-3 with a 2.55 ERA and 194 strikeouts this season. Cole is 3-1 with a 5.55 ERA and 28 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers could use a win here after losing five of their last seven games. The Dodgers have scored 22 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won five of their last six games when scoring more than one run. Chris Taylor leads the Dodgers with 105 hits and 50 RBI while Matt Kemp and Cody Bellinger have combined for 195 hits and 113 RBI. Walker Buehler gets the ball, and he is 4-4 with a 3.65 ERA and 71 strikeouts this season. This will be Buehler’s first career game against the Astros.
The Astros are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 9-3 in Coles last 12 road starts and 17-5 in Coles last 22 starts. The Dodgers are 16-5 in their last 21 interleague home games, 21-8 in their last 29 during game 3 of a series and 22-10 in their last 32 interleague games. The Astros are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings and the under is 9-2-1 in the last 12 meetings.
The Houston Astros have downright owned the Dodgers in this series, and while sweeping a very good team isn't easy, you're getting Cole at an insane price. You almost never see Cole, a CY Young candidate at this price. Cole has allowed two or less runs in each of his last four starts and is giving up a .181 batting average on the season. Cole has been just as good on the road. Buehler has given up four or more runs in three of his last six starts. You just can't turn down Cole and the Astros at a price this cheap.
