Los Angeles Dodgers -290 / Miami Marlins +260 O/U: 8
The Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers will meet up on the MLB circuit Saturday to continue their series.
In the Friday opener of this set, the Dodgers posted two runs in the sixth and held on for a 2-1 victory.
For Saturday’s game, the Marlins will be going with Sandy Alcantara in the start. Over his 107.1 innings and 4-9 record this year, Alcantara has a 3.94 ERA with 76 Ks and 49 BBs.
Miami had four hits on the night Friday. Two of those came from Jorge Alfaro; he also notched an RBI.
Over on the Dodgers’ side, they’re going with Clayton Kershaw in the start Saturday. Across 105.0 innings and an 8-2 record so far, Kershaw has a 3.00 ERA with 98 Ks and 18 BBs.
Los Angeles had six hits on Friday but were able to chip things out on the scoreboard. AJ Pollock was the only Dodgers hitter with two knocks, posting a 2-for-2 line.
The Marlins are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games and 1-5 in Alcantara’s last six starts. Miami is 1-5 in Alcantara’s last six starts on grass and 1-4 in his last five with five days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 16-7 in their last 23 in game two of a series and 41-10 in Kershaw’s last 51 home starts. LA is 85-29 in Kershaw’s last 114 starts and 36-15 in his last 51 Saturday starts.
Alcantara had a really nice run of starts going in late June, bagging four quality outings in five appearances. Since then he’s 0-3 with 12 earned runs across three starts in 17.2 innings.
As for Kershaw, he stumbled a bit in late June but has gotten back on track with two earned on nine hits in 13.0 innings over his last pair.
This should be a fun pitching matchup but all things considered I have to side with Kershaw and the Dodgers here.
