Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Thursday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.

The Philadelphia Phillies could use a win here after losing five of their last eight games. The Phillies have allowed 14 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Philadelphia Phillies have lost six straight games when allowing more than one run. Offensively, Odubel Herrera leads the Phillies with 62 hits and 32 RBI while Cesar Hernandez and Maikel Franco have combined for 98 hits and 53 RBI. Aaron Nola gets the ball, and he is 6-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 67 strikeouts this season. This will be Nola’s second career game against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to stay hot after winning 10 of their last 13 games. The Dodgers have scored 14 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in nine of their last 12 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 10 of their last 11 games when scoring more than one run. Matt Kemp leads the Dodgers with 58 hits and 30 RBI while Chris Taylor and Cody Bellinger have combined for 100 hits and 45 RBI. Clayton Kershaw gets the ball, and he is 1-4 with a 2.86 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. Kershaw is 3-5 with a 3.16 ERA and 86 strikeouts in his career against the Phillies.

The Phillies are 4-1 in their last 5 Thursday games, 1-7 in Nolas last 8 road starts and 6-1 in Nolas last 7 starts. The Dodgers are 5-2 in their last 7 during game 4 of a series, 50-13 in Kershaws last 63 home starts and 57-17 in Kershaws last 74 starts. The Phillies are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in Los Angeles, the Dodgers are 5-1 in Kershaws last 6 starts vs. Phillies and the over is 10-2-4 in the last 16 meetings.

I'm not laying this steep of a price with Kershaw who hasn't pitched in a month due to injury. Instead, I'm doubling down on the over that we hit on last night. Teams were able to score on Keshaw a little more than usual before he left for the DL, and there should be room for that to continue after missing four weeks. Nola has been great this season, but the Dodgers offense has been o nfire during this winning stretch. This total is really low regardless who is on the mound. I'll take for this game to get just over the total.
