|Date & Time||Friday April 26, 2019, 10:10 PM (EDT)|
Los Angeles, California
The Line: Pittsburgh Pirates +150 / Los Angeles Dodgers -172 -- Over/Under: 7.5
The Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Friday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.
The Pittsburgh Pirates could use a win here to snap a five-game losing streak. The Pirates have allowed 18 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in three of their last four games. The Pittsburgh Pirates are 2-7 this season when allowing four or more runs. Offensively, Josh Bell leads the Pirates with 23 hits and 17 RBI while Melky Cabrera and Adam Frazier have combined for 41 hits and seven RBI. Chris Archer gets the ball, and he is 1-1 with a 2.74 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. This will be Archer’s second career game against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers look for a win after splitting their last six games. The Dodgers have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 11 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers are 16-8 this season when scoring at least two runs. Cody Bellinger leads the Dodgers with 40 hits and 31 RBI while Corey Seager and A.J. Pollock have combined for 48 hits and 21 RBI. Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the ball, and he is 2-1 with a 3.10 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. Ryu is 4-0 with a 2.49 ERA and 17 strikeouts in his career against the Pirates.
The Pirates are 4-0 in their last 4 Friday games, 0-5 in their last 5 vs. National League West and 1-5 in Archer's last 6 road starts. The Dodgers are 7-3 in their last 10 vs. National League Central, 39-19 in their last 58 Friday games and 35-16 in Ryu's last 51 home starts. The Pirates are 14-40 in the last 54 meetings in Los Angeles and 0-4 in the last 4 meetings. The over is 5-1 in Ryu's last 6 home starts. The under is 6-2 in Pirates last 8 overall.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have cooled off just as quickly as they started to string wins together, and while Archer has been solid through four starts, only one of those games came on the road and h has had control issues at times. The Dodgers have been very consistent these last couple of weeks and are throwing out Ryu who has been sharp, and he's currently averaging 10.18 Ks per nine innings, easily the best of his career. Archer has lost 10 of his last 17 starts as a road underdog. Ryu has won 16 of his last 21 games as a home favorite. I have to side with the Dodgers in game one.
