The Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -390 / San Diego Padres +345 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Saturday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.
The San Diego Padres could use a win here after losing nine of their last 11 games. The Padres have allowed 21 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 13 games. The San Diego Padres have lost 10 of their last 12 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Eric Hosmer leads the Padres with 127 hits and 54 RBI while Freddy Galvis and Jose Pirela have combined for 213 hits and 85 RBI. Brett Kennedy gets the ball, and he is 0-2 with a 8.36 ERA and nine strikeouts this season. This will be Kennedy’s first career game against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers could also use a win after losing nine of their last 13 games. The Dodgers have scored 14 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last eight games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won four of their last five games when scoring more than three runs. Cody Bellinger leads the Dodgers with 119 hits and 62 RBI while Chris Taylor and Matt Kemp have combined for 225 hits and 123 RBI. Clayton Kershaw gets the ball, and he is 6-5 with a 2.40 ERA and 115 strikeouts this season. Kershaw is 18-6 with a 1.89 ERA and 227 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.
The Padres are 20-42 in their last 62 vs. National League West, 1-5 in their last 6 Saturday games and 1-10 in their last 11 during game 2 of a series. The Dodgers are 3-13 in their last 16 during game 2 of a series, 53-16 in Kershaws last 69 home starts and 64-22 in Kershaws last 86 starts. The Padres are 20-46 in the last 66 meetings in Los Angeles, 18-39 in the last 57 meetings and the Dodgers are 21-5 in Kershaws last 26 starts vs. Padres.
I continue to fade the San Diego Padres, and it pays off more times than not, as this is one of those teams that just finds ways to lose, regardless if its the offense or the pitching that doesn't show up. The Los Angeles Dodgers are in must win situations with the playoff race starting to get away from them, and while they haven't had a ton of success with Kershaw this season, he's still one of the top pitchers in the game and has downright owned the Padres. In 102 at bats against current Padres, Kershaw has struck out 30 batters and is allowing a .186 batting average. I'll take the home team and the run line.
