San Diego Padres (50-81) at Los Angeles Dodgers (68-61)
|Date & Time||Sunday August 26, 2018, 4:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -233 / San Diego Padres +214 --- Over/Under: 8
The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers will be finishing up their MLB set on Sunday from Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers banged out a big 11-1 victory on Friday, then in the Saturday game the Dodgers managed a 5-4 walk-off win in the 12th inning.
For the Sunday matchup, the Padres will be sending out lefty Robbie Erlin. In his 80.2 innings and 3-3 mark this year, Erlin has a 3.46 ERA with 65 Ks and eight walks.
San Diego’s top hitter this year is Eric Hosmer, with 127 hits, 58 runs, 13 homers and 54 RBI entering the weekend. On Saturday Hosmer logged an RBI.
Over on the Dodgers’ side, they’re going with LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu on Sunday. Over 39.2 innings and a 3-1 record this year, Ryu has a 2.27 ERA with 46 Ks.
Heading into game two, the Dodgers’ Manny Machado brought 134 hits, 46 runs, 13 homers and 49 RBI. On Saturday, Machado ripped a three-run homer.
The Padres are 28-61 in their last 89 Sunday games and 3-13 in their last 16 in game three of a series. San Diego is 4-9 in Erlin’s last 13 starts and 1-4 in his last five Sunday starts.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 20-6 in their last 26 in game three of a series and 10-4 in their last 14 Sunday games. LA is 4-9 in their last 13 overall and 2-5 in their last seven home games.
In his last four starts, Erlin has given up a total of eight earned over 21.0 innings on a combined 22 hits. That’s pretty great, but Ryu has been solid since his DL stint and should help the Dodgers push in this one. All things considered I can’t find a lot of reasons not to think LA will win here.
