The St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Tuesday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.
The St. Louis Cardinals look to keep the ball rolling after winning 11 of their last 13 games. The Cardinals have scored 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 11 of their last 12 games. The St. Louis Cardinals have won 13 of their last 14 games when scoring more than one run. Marcell Ozuna leads the Cardinals with 129 hits and 67 RBI while Jose Martinez and Matt Carpenter have combined for 240 hits and 137 RBI. Daniel Poncedeleon gets the ball, and he is 0-0 with a 2.04 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. This will be Poncedeleon’s first career game against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers could use a win here after losing eight of their last 12 games. The Dodgers have scored 19 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last 10 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have lost eight of their last nine games when scoring four or less runs. Cody Bellinger leads the Dodgers with 116 hits and 60 RBI while Chris Taylor and Matt Kemp have combined for 220 hits and 122 RBI. Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the ball, and he is 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season. Ryu is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA and 20 strikeouts in his career against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are 5-0 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series, 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games and 5-0 in their last 5 road games. The Dodgers are 1-4 in their last 5 Tuesday games, 8-2 in Ryus last 10 home starts and 1-6 in Ryus last 7 starts with 5 days of rest. The under is 5-0 in Ryus last 5 starts vs. Cardinals and 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
It's getting old backing the Los Angeles Dodgers and losing due to a bullpen that can't get outs, and it happened again last night. The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the hotter teams in baseball and have an offense that's simply on fire. Poncedeleon has just 17.2 innings under his belt for his career, but he's allowed just eight hits and four runs in those innings. Ryu has pitched just one game since May and has been extremely sharp when on the field. The difference for me in this game is the Cards consistent offense and more trustworthy bullpen. I'm tired of laying these crazy prices with the Dodgers for them to blow it. Give me the hotter team at the more favorable price.
