The Line: Seattle Mariners -136 / Los Angeles Angels +126 --- Over/Under: 7
The Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Wednesday in Seattle for game three of their MLB AL West series.
The Seattle Mariners started their 2015 MLB Season with a win on Monday but on Tuesday they simply didn’t have it falling to the Angels. Rickie Weeks and Nelson Cruz each had hits and Justin Ruggiano had as the Mariners failed to score on just two hits. Starting pitcher James Paxton pitched well allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings but that was only good enough to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Mariners start Hisashi Iwakuma who was 15-9 with a 3.52 ERA last season while striking out 154 over 179 innings.
The Los Angeles Angels rode stellar pitching on Tuesday to their first win of the young 2015 MLB season. David Freese hit a two run home run and Mike Trout and Albert Pujols each added hits as the Angels scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher C.J. Wilson allowed just two hits and struck out two over 8.0 innings and Huston Street earned the save. For Wednesday’s game the Angels start Matt Shoemaker who was outstanding last season going 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA striking out 124 over 136 innings.
Seattle is 4-1 as a favorite, 4-1 in their last five home games, 5-2 against a right-handed starter, and 4-1 in Iwakuma’s last five starts. Los Angeles is 16-7 in game three of a series, 1-5 in their last six road games, 1-4 against the AL West, and 6-1 in Shoemaker’s last seven starts as an underdog. Los Angeles is 1-4 in their last five games in Seattle.
This looks like a good one an while I have been big on Iwakuma over the years, this is too good of a price to pass up on Shoemaker.
