The Line: Seattle Mariners -188 / Oakland Athletics +178 --- Over/Under: 6.5
The Seattle Mariners and the Oakland A’s face off on Sunday as they close out their MLB series of AL West teams.
The Seattle Mariners have been disappointing for the most part this season but they are coming off of another win on Saturday. Robinson Cano had three hits and Seth Smith and Nelson Cruz each had two hits as the Mariners scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher J.A. Happ allowed four hits and a run while striking out eight over 5.0 innings to get the win and go to 3-1 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Mariners start Felix Hernandez who has allowed 28 hits and eight wuns while striking out 44 over 41.2 innings for a 5-0 record and a 1.73 ERA.
The Oakland A’s are in the rebuilding process and we saw it again on Saturday as they lost to the Mariners. Mark Canha hit a home run, Marcus Semien had three hits, and Billy Burns and Eric Sogard had two hits each as the A’s scored two runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Jesse Hahn allowed eight hits and six runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-3 for the season. For Sunday’s game the A’s start Jesse Chavez who has allowed 17 hits and five runs while striking out 25 over 25 innings for a 1-2 record and a 1.80 ERA.
Seattle is 1-7 after scoring five or more runs in their previous game, 10-21 in their last 31 games with the total set between 7.0 and 8.5, and 4-0 in Hernandez’s last four home starts. Oakland is 6-23 as a road underdog, 0-5 in their last five road games, and 1-4 in Chavez’s last five road starts. Oakland is 0-5 in their last five games against Seattle.
I expect the pitchers to get the best of this one and for it to fall under the total. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App. As always my Premium Picks can be purchased individually at Picks and Parlays.
