|Date & Time||Sunday April 26, 2015, 4:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Seattle Mariners -138 / Minnesota Twins +128 --- Over/Under: 8
The Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners play a rubber game Sunday afternoon.
The Minnesota Twins look for a win after splitting their last eight games. The Twins have allowed seven runs in this series and four or more runs in four of their last seven games. The Twins have lost five of their last seven games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Joe Mauer leads Minny with 17 hits and six RBI while Torii Hunter and Kurt Suzuki have combined for 13 RBI. The Minnesota Twins look for their third series victory this season. Kyle Gibson gets the nod, and he’s 1-2 with a 5.87 ERA and three strikeouts this season. Gibson is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners look for a win after splitting their last eight games. The Mariners allowed eight runs in Saturday’s loss and have given up four or more runs in four of their last six games. The Mariners have lost three straight games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Nelson Cruz leads Seattle with 22 hits and 20 RBI while Kyle Seager and Brad Miller have combined for 17 RBI. Five of the Seattle Mariners seven victories this season have come on their home field. Roenis Elias takes the hill, and he was 10-12 with a 3.85 ERA and 143 strikeouts last season. Elias is 0-2 with a 8.71 ERA and seven strikeouts in his career against the Twins.
The Twins are 5-2 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series and 3-8 in Gibsons last 11 starts. The Mariners are 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games and 4-9 in Elias' last 13 starts. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
The Twins really hammered Elias last season, and I don't really trust pitchers who are taking the mound for the first time into a season. If forced to pick this game, I'm siding with the Twins and the plus money.
