USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins look to sweep the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon.

The Washington Nationals look to snap a four-game losing streak. The Nationals have scored just three runs in their last three games and have scored three or less runs in five of their last seven games. The Nationals have lost seven of their last eight games when scoring three or less runs. Ian Desmond leads Washington with 20 hits and five RBI while Ryan Zimmerman and Bryce Harper have combined for 22 RBI. The Washington Nationals just can not put runs on the board and have just two runs in this series. Gio Gonzalez takes the hill, and he’s 1-1 with a 3.44 ERA and 14 strikeouts this season. Gonzalez is 6-2 with a 1.67 ERA and 54 strikeouts in his career against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins look to build on their four-game winning streak. The Marlins have 20 runs in their last three games and have four or more runs in five of their last seven games. The Marlins have won five of their last eight games when topping three runs. Dee Gordon leads Miami with 28 hits and 10 RBI while Adeiny Hechavarria and Giancarlo Stanton have combined for 29 RBI. The Miami Marlins are quietly sneaking back into the NL East, as they’re just two games out of second place. Dan Haren gets the ball, and he’s 1-1 with a 3.32 ERA and 14 strikeouts this season. Haren is 3-3 with a 2.76 ERA and 29 strikeouts in his career against the Nationals.

The Nationals are 22-10 in their last 32 during game 3 of a series and 3-7 in Gonzalezs last 10 road starts. The Marlins are 5-11 in their last 16 vs. National League East and 3-7 in their last 10 games vs. a left-handed starter. The Nationals are 5-0 in Gonzalezs last 5 starts vs. Marlins.

I'm not sure how anybody can back the Nationals with the way their offense is sucking wind. The Nats can't put runs on the board at all while the Marlins are starting to break out of their funk and growing with confidence. I'll gladly take the hotter team at home for the plus money.

Pick:
Miami Marlins +112
