|Date & Time||Thursday June 28, 2018, 12:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Miami Marlins +158 / Arizona Diamondbacks -168 --- Over/Under: 7.5
Down at Marlins Park on Thursday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Miami Marlins will be finishing up their MLB series.
The two teams split the first pair of games in this set, then on Wednesday Arizona eked out a 2-1 victory, holding Miami to just three hits.
For the Thursday game, the Diamondbacks will be bringing out Zack Greinke for the start. Over his 96.0 innings and 7-5 record this year, Greinke has a 3.66 ERA with 102 Ks and 19 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Diamondbacks this season is David Peralta, who entered game three with 80 hits, 37 runs, 15 homers and 44 RBI. On Wednesday, Peralta was 0-for-3.
As for the Marlins, they’re rolling with Trevor Richards on Thursday. Across 44.0 innings and a 2-4 mark this season, Richards has a 4.91 ERA with 40 Ks and 20 BBs.
Brian Anderson is the leading hitter for the Marlins this season, and he came into Wednesday with 92 hits, 44 runs and 38 RBI. In game three, Anderson was 0-for-2 with a pair of walks.
The Diamondbacks are 20-7 in their last 27 Thursday games and 7-1 in Greinke’s last eight Thursday starts. Arizona is also 4-1 in Greinke’s last five starts and 14-5 in his last 19 starts with four days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 5-21 in their last 26 Thursday games and 3-13 in their last 16 in game four of a series. The under is 5-2 in Richards’ last seven starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts on grass.
Greinke has a couple of bumps in the proverbial road over his past handful of starts, but in his last two he’s got a pair of quality starts and three combined earned runs in 12.1 innings. As for Richards, he’s got one bad game (six earned; 3.1 innings) and two good ones (two earned combined; 12.0 innings) in his last trio. If both guys come out firing this could be a low-scoring game, but I have to side with Greinke and the Diamondbacks for the win here.
