MLB | Atlanta Braves (1-0) at Miami Marlins (0-1)

The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves face off on Tuesday in game two of their season opening MLB NL East series.

The Miami Marlins have reasonable hopes his season bu the go the season started with a loss falling to the Braves on Monday. Martin Prado and Marcell Ozuna each had two hits for the Marlins and Giancarlo Stanton and Dee Gordon each had hits as Miami scored one run on eight hits. Starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez took the loss to fall to 0-1 as he allowed six hits and two runs while striking out two over 7.0 innings. For Tuesday’s game the marlins start Mat Latos who comes over from the Reds. Last season Latos missed several games going 5-5 with a 3.25 ERA striking out 74 over 102.1 innings.

The Atlanta Braves got their season started by winning Monday although hey were outhit by the Marlins. Freddie Freeman had a hit and drove in two runs and Eric Young, Nick Markakis, and Alberto Jose Callespo each had hits as the Braves scored two runs on six hits. Julio Teheran allowed eight hits and a run while striking out four to get the win and Jason Grilli earned the save. For Tuesday’s game the Braves start Alex Wood who pitched well but didn’t have the record to show for it last season. Wood went 11-11 with a 2.78 ERA striking out 170 over 171.2 innings.

Miami is 3-8 in their last 11 games against the NL East, 3-7 against a left-handed starter, and 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 1-4 in game two of a series. Atlanta is 3-7 as an underdog, 5-15 in their last 20 games, 4-9 against the NL East, and 1-6 in Wood’s last seven road starts. Atlanta is 26-11 in their last 37 games in Miami.

I am not expecting a lot of scoring so with the total at seven my free pick is the under. My stronger pick is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
