Miami Marlins +124 / Atlanta Braves -134 O/U: 8
The Atlanta Braves and the Miami Marlins will meet up on the MLB circuit Sunday to complete their set.
In Friday’s game one of this series, the Braves powered out a 7-1 victory. On Saturday, Atlanta scored one run in the seventh and it would hold up on a 1-0 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Braves will be going with Max Fried in the start. Over his 66.0 innings and 7-3 record so far, Fried has a 3.68 ERA with 59 Ks and 18 BBs.
Although the Braves got just three hits on the day Saturday, but still got a nice win out of it. Julio Teheran pitched very well with two hits in 6.0 innings and five Ks.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re going with Pablo Lopez in the start Sunday. Across 63.2 innings and a 4-5 record this season, Lopez has a 4.52 ERA with 62 Ks and 16 BBs.
Miami had a nice pitching performance on their side Saturday as well. Trevor Richards posted 7.0 innings with two hits, one earned, three walks and five Ks.
The Braves are 27-9 in their last 36 Sunday games and 8-3 in their last 11 in game three of a series. Atlanta is 4-0 in Fried’s last four Sunday starts and 4-1 in his last five starts.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 16-35 in their last 51 in game three of a series and 5-13 in Lopez’s last 18 starts. Miami is 1-7 in Lopez’s last eight starts with four days’ rest and 1-10 in his last 11 versus the NL East.
Fried had a nice run going last month, but he’s stumbled in his last couple of starts. In that pair he’s given up nine earned on 18 hits in 9.2 innings.
As for Lopez, he’s been really good in his last pair, with one earned in 12.0 innings on seven hits. Provided the Marlins can rack up a few runs here (they got him a whopping 16 last time), I think Lopez can get himself another win. I’m going Miami as the home dogs.
