MLB | Baltimore Orioles (19-20) at Miami Marlins (16-27)

The Miami Marlins and the Baltimore Orioles face off on Saturday at Marlins Park for game two of their interleague series.

The Miami Marlins are in a tailspin and they lost for the eighth time in a row dropping their series opener to the Orioles. Justin Bour had two hits including a home run, Adeiny Hechavarria had three hits, and Ichiro Suzuki and Dee Gordon each had two hits as the Marlins scored five runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez allowed six hits and six runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Marlins start Dan Haren who has allowed 42 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 33 over 49.1 innings for a 4-2 record and a 3.47 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles continue to battle to stay in the race in the AL East as they beat the Marlins on Friday. Jimmy Parades and Caleb Joseph each had three hits and Manny Machado added two hits as the Orioles scored eight runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out four over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as Tyler Wilson got the win and Zach Britton earned the save. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Mike Wright who allowed four hits and struck out six over 7.1 scoreless innings to get the win in his Major League debut beating the Angels.

Miami is 9-2 in their last 11 interleague games as a favorite, 9-4 at home against a team with a losing record, and 0-4 in game two of a series. Baltimore is 5-1 in Saturday games, 3-9 in their last 12 games as an underdog, and 2-9 in their last 11 road games. Baltimore is 2-6 in their last eight games against Miami.

I have to believe Wright will be touched up this time out now that there is film and scouting on him and Haren appears to be regressing so with the total set at 7.5 the over seems to be a solid play. I also have a strong play on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
