The Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins meet Saturday in MLB action at Marlins Park.

The Chicago Cubs lost a heartbreaker Friday night in 17 innings, as the offense managed to score just one run and put together eight hits. The Cubs pitching staff more than held its own and gave the team chance after chance, but the bats were dead and weren’t coming alive as the game lasted over five hours. The Cubs have scored just one run in their last 19 innings, which isn’t something most expected heading into this series. Overall, Kris Bryant leads the Cubs with four hits and one RBI, while Willson Contreras and Addison Russell have combined for four hits and one RBI. The Chicago Cubs Yu Darvish gets the ball, and he was 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA and 209 strikeouts last season. Darvish is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA and 15 strikeouts in his career against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins got a much needed feel good victory, as there’s nothing worse than killing your bullpen, playing five hours and losing. A Miguel Rojas single up the middle got the fish their first victory of the season and Derek Jeter’s first win as an owner. Overall, Lewis Brinson and Brian Andersn have combined for eight hits and two RBI while Derek Dietrich has three hits and one walk. The Miami Marlins have been competitive in their first two games, and it’s going to be interesting to see if they can continue to play with such a positive attitude, as this hasn’t looked like a team that’s supposed to lose 100-plus games. Odrisamer Despaigne gets the ball, and he was 2-3 with a 4.01 ERA and 31 strikeouts last season. This will be Despaigne’s second career game against the Cubs.

The Cubs are 7-2 in their last 9 vs. National League East, 7-3 in their last 10 during game 3 of a series and 19-9 in their last 28 games on grass. The Marlins are 5-1 in their last 6 Saturday games, 6-2 in their last 8 home games and 2-6 in their last 8 during game 3 of a series. The Cubs are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.

Odrisamer Despaigne likely isn't going to start for Miami after pitching a little in the marathon, and it's going to be interesting to see how these teams handle things after blowing through their bullpens. The Marlins have no starter worth a damn if we're being honest. Not easy to play right after playing 17 innings. Regardless, the Cubs have Darvish on the mound, a guy who wasn't good in the postseason but was plenty good in the regular season and has the stuff to quiet a Miami lineup that needs to put together two or three hits to score. I don't like laying heavy juice, so I'll take the RL to add value to this bet.

Chicago Cubs -1.5
