The Kansas City Royals and the Miami Marlins will meet up to finish their MLB series on Sunday.
The Royals took a 3-0 victory in the Friday opener of this set. On Saturday, Kansas City kept it going with a nice 7-2 win.
For the Sunday game, the Royals will send out Mike Montgomery in the start. Across his 73.1 innings and 3-7 record this year, Montgomery has a 4.42 ERA with 59 Ks and 25 BBs.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re going with Sandy Alcantara on Sunday. Over 162.2 innings and a 4-12 mark so far, Alcantara has a 4.26 ERA with 123 Ks and 76 BBs.
The Royals are 13-28 in their last 41 Sunday games and 22-67 in their last 89 in game three of a series. The over is 4-0 in KC’s last four Sunday games and 4-1 in Montgomery’s last five starts.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 17-36 in their last 53 Sunday games and 3-9 in Alcantara’s last 12 starts. Miami is 2-7 in Alcantara’s last nine home starts and 2-7 in his last nine with four days’ rest.
Montgomery has been solid over his last two games, posting two earned across 12.0 innings. Thing is, he’s 0-2 over his last three starts. As for Alcantara, he had three straight quality starts last month and since then he’s been just okay with eight earned in 13.0 innings. Considering Miami doesn’t give Alcantara too many wins I’m leaning Royals here.
