Miami Marlins +115 / Philadelphia Phillies -125 O/U: 8.5
The Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins will match up on the MLB diamond Sunday to finish up their series.
In the Friday opener, the Marlins bagged a 6-2 win. On Saturday, Miami kept going with a 9-6 victory.
For Sunday’s finale, the Phillies will be bringing out Jake Arrieta in the start. Over his 97.2 innings and 7-6 mark this year, Arrieta has a 4.33 ERA with 75 Ks and 39 BBs.
Philly logged eight hits in the Saturday game but didn’t score in the last four innings. Scott Kingery managed a double, two RBI and a run in that one.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re sending out Trevor Richards to start Sunday. Across 89.0 innings and a 3-8 mark so far, Richards has a 3.94 ERA with 80 Ks and 38 BBs.
Miami poured in eight runs during the sixth and seventh innings Saturday. Harold Ramirez led the team with three hits and also plated a pair of runs.
The Phillies are 1-5 in their last six in game three of a series and 0-5 in their last five Sunday games. Philly is 5-2 in Arrieta’s last seven starts and 4-1 in his last five with four days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 18-39 in their last 57 in game three of a series and 3-8 in their last 11 Sunday games. Miami is 7-19 in Richards’ last 26 starts and 2-8 in his last 10 home starts.
Arrieta had a couple of good starts this month, with four earned on eight hits in 12.0 innings. He stumbled against the Mets his last time up (five earned; nine hits; 6.0 innings) but Arrieta still got the win.
As for Richards, he’s been sketchy over his last three with two of those starts combining for 11 earned on 10.0 innings on 18 hits.
I’m not super pumped about Arrieta right now but I think he can help Philly get a win here.
