Miami Marlins -106 / Pittsburgh Pirates -104 O/U: 8
The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Miami Marlins will meet up on the MLB circuit Sunday to close out their series.
In the Friday opener, the Pirates secured a big 11-0 blowout win. On Saturday, the Marlins managed to eke one out 4-3.
For the Sunday game, the Pirates will be sending out Chris Archer for the start. In his 59.2 innings and 3-6 record this year, Archer has a 5.73 ERA with 61 Ks and 30 BBs.
Pittsburgh’s offense notched eight hits in the Saturday loss. Josh Bell and Corey Dickerson each went 2-for-4 with an RBI in that game.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re going with Sandy Alcantara in the start Sunday. Over 76.0 innings and a 3-6 mark so far, Alcantara has a 3.67 ERA with 52 Ks and 36 BBs.
Miami logged 10 hits in the win Saturday. Leading the way was Harold Ramirez with his three hits, one run and one RBI.
The Pirates are 1-5 in their last six in game three of a series and 2-7 in Archer’s last nine starts. Pittsburgh is 2-7 in Archer’s last nine starts on grass and 0-4 in his last four road starts.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 17-36 in their last 53 in game three of a series and 2-7 in their last nine Sunday games. Miami is 3-8 in Alcantara’s last 11 starts and 1-5 in his last six home starts.
Archer had a good start at home against Atlanta earlier this month, with one earned in 6.0 innings, but didn’t fare so well on the road against the Braves his last time up with 6.0 innings and seven earned.
As for Alcantara, he’s been rolling along quite well, with two earned over 18.0 innings in his last three starts combined.
So long as the Marlins can help out with a little offense, I like Alcantara to help Miami to a win here.
