San Diego Padres (29-35) at Miami Marlins (22-40)
|Date & Time||Saturday June 9, 2018, 4:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Miami Marlins -103 / San Diego Padres -107 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The San Diego Padres and the Miami Marlins will be continuing their MLB series on Saturday from Marlins Park.
In the Friday opener, the Marlins scored twice in the fourth inning and cruised to a 4-0 victory.
The Padres will be going with Tyson Ross on Saturday. In his 70.2 innings and 5-3 record this year, Ross has a 3.31 ERA with 71 Ks and 26 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Padres this year is Jose Pirela with 67 hits, 36 runs and 19 RBI entering this set. On Friday, Pirela had a pair of hits.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’ll be rolling with Dan Straily on Saturday. Over 36.0 innings and a 2-2 record this year, Straily has a 3.50 ERA with 27 Ks and 22 BBs.
Heading into this series, the Marlins’ leading hitter was Starlin Castro with 70 hits, 37 runs and 24 RBI. In the opener, Castro had a hit and a run.
The Padres are 6-0 in their last six Saturday games and 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series. San Diego is also 4-1 in Ross’ last five road starts and 5-0 in his last five starts.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 0-4 in their last four Saturday games and 6-0 in Straily’s last six home starts. Miami is also 6-2 in Straily’s last eight starts and 2-5 in his last seven starts with five days’ rest.
Ross has been pretty good lately; after his three quality starts in a row he’s put up five earned in his last 10.1 innings over two starts. As for Straily, he’s given up five earned over his last 10.0 innings and for the most part has been solid. This should be a decent pitching matchup, but I’m going with Straily and the Marlins to sneak in a win.
