The Line: Miami Marlins -105 / San Francisco Giants -105 --- Over/Under: 8
On Thursday from Marlins Park, the San Francisco Giants and the Miami Marlins will be concluding their MLB series.
The Marlins took the first two games of this set 7-5 and 3-1, then on Wednesday Miami eked one out in walk-off fashion 5-4.
For the Thursday game, the Giants will be bringing out Dereck Rodriguez for the start. In his 12.0 innings and 1-1 record this year, Rodriguez has a 5.25 ERA with 12 Ks and six walks.
Tops in hitting for the Giants heading into game three was Brandon Crawford with 75 hits, 28 runs and 32 RBI. On Wednesday, Crawford had a hit and a run.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re going with Dan Straily on Thursday. Across 39.2 innings and a 2-2 record this year, Straily has a 4.08 ERA with 31 Ks and 22 BBs.
Coming into the Wednesday game, Brian Anderson led the Marlins on 78 hits, 37 runs and 32 RBI. In game three, Anderson had two runs and an RBI.
The Giants are 5-13 in their last 18 Thursday games and 5-16 in their last 21 in game four of a series. The under is 5-0-1 in San Fran’s last six Thursday games and they’re 22-46 in their last 68 road games.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 6-23 in their last 29 Thursday games and 1-6 in their last seven in game four of a series. Miami is also 6-1 in Straily’s last seven home starts and 4-1 in his last five starts with four days’ rest.
Rodriguez has one good start (6.0 innings; one earned) and one bad start (2.2 innings; five earned) on his resume this year. As for Straily, he’s given up four earned in two of his last three starts but has otherwise been okay lately. I’m not thrilled about the pick here but I’m going Marlins. The over seems sensible as well.
