The Line: Miami Marlins -159 / Texas Rangers +149 --- Over/Under: 8
The Miami Marlins and the Texas Rangers face off on Wednesday in Miami as they continue their interleague series.
The Miami Marlins didn’t make it easy on themselves on Tuesday but it didn’t matter as they got the win. Marcel Ozuna hit a home run, Christian Yellich had three hits, and Giancarlo Stanton and Jarrod Saltalamacchia each had two hits as the Marlins scored four runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Jarred Cosart allowed six hits and a run while striking out two over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Mike Dunn blew the save and Sam Dyson picked up the win. For Wednesday’s game the Marlins start Nathan Eovaldi who has lost four of his last five decisions. For the season Eovaldi has allowed 158 hits and 69 earned runs while striking out 109 over 157 innings for a 6-7 record and a 3.96 ERA.
The Texas Rangers fought back on Tuesday but they were unable to get the lead and the win as they lost in Miami. Shi-Soo Choo, Adrian Beltre, Leonys martin, and Rougned Odor each had two hits as the Rangers scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Miles Mikolas allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out six over 5.0 innings to not factor in the decision and Neal Cotts took the loss to fall to 2-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Nicholas Martinez who has lost seven of his last eight decisions. For the season Martinez has allowed 110 hits and 5 earned runs while striking out 50 over 94 innings for a 2-9 record and a 5.27 ERA.
Miami is 6-2 in their last eight games, 10-4 against the AL West, and 4-10 in Eovaldi’s last 14 starts. Texas is 2-7 in their last nine interleague road games, 13-42 in their last 5 games, and 1-5 in Martinez’s last six road starts. Texas is 4-1 in their last five games in Miami.
This one looks like a coin flip and I hate laying the big number on Miami but the Marlins have to be the paly here as they find ways to win while the Rangers find ways to lose.
