The Line: Miami Marlins +196 / Washington Nationals -212 --- Over/Under: 7.5
Coming up Sunday from Marlins Park, the Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins will be finishing up their weekend MLB series.
The Nationals bagged a 9-5 victory in the opener Friday, then on Saturday Washington made it two straight with a 4-1 win.
For Sunday’s game, the Nationals will be bringing out RHP Stephen Strasburg. In his 67.0 innings and 5-4 record this year, Strasburg has a 3.36 ERA With 75 Ks and 17 BBs.
Trea Turner brought 52 hits, 29 runs, six homers and 20 RBI into the weekend to lead the Nationals. On Saturday, Turner had two hits and an RBI.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re going with Elieser Hernandez on Sunday. Over 13.0 innings and an 0-1 record this year, Hernandez has a 2.08 ERA with six Ks and one walk.
Entering the weekend, Starlin Castro led the Marlins on 57 hits, 28 runs and 21 RBI. In the Saturday game, Castro put up an 0-for-3 line.
The Nationals are 28-5 in Strasburg’s last 33 Sunday starts and 58-19 in his last 77 starts. Washington is also 35-16 in Strasburg’s last 51 road starts and 38-18 in his last 56 starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 4-9 in their last 13 Sunday games and 1-4 in their last five in game three of a series. The over is 15-6-2 in Miami’s last 23 in game three of a series and Miami is 0-7 in their last seven games versus Strasburg.
Strasburg has been pretty solid over his last four straight quality starts, allowing a total of nine earned in 27.1 innings. As for Hernandez, he’s allowed two earned on eight hits over his last 10.0 innings. This should be a decent pitching matchup if both guys are on, but all things considered I like the Nats to get the win.
