Washington Nationals at Miami Marlins

Miami Marlins +183 / Washington Nationals -195 O/U: 7
The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins will meet up on the MLB diamond to kick off their series on Tuesday.
The Nats are coming off a set against the Braves this weekend. Despite winning 3-4 on Friday, Washington then fell 13-9 Saturday and 4-3 Sunday to lose the series.
For Tuesday’s opener, Washington will be sending out Max Scherzer in the start. Over his 106.1 innings and 6-5 record this year, Scherzer has a 2.62 ERA with 146 Ks and 22 BBs.
Over on the Marlins’ side, they’re fresh out of a set versus the Phillies. Miami won all three of those games and are picking up a little steam with five victories in their last six games.
Miami is going with Trevor Richards in the start Tuesday. In his 84.0 innings and 3-7 record this year, Richards has a 3.54 ERA with 77 Ks and 36 BBs.
The Nationals are 5-2 in their last seven overall and 2-5 in their last seven Tuesday games. Washington is 4-0 in Scherzer’s last four starts and 2-12 in their last 14 after an off day.
Meanwhile, the Marlins are 4-0 in the last four overall and 2-8 in the last 10 home games. Miami is 4-12 in Richards’ last 16 starts and 2-7 in his last nine home starts.
Scherzer has been dealing lately with this lengthy streak of quality starts. Over his last four games alone, he’s 4-0 with just three earned runs in a span of 29.0 innings—not to mention 44 strikeouts.
As for Richards he had a little bump versus Pittsburgh but otherwise has been pretty darn good himself over his last seven starts or so. This should be a fun matchup.
All things considered here however, I can’t pick against Scherzer and the Nats.
