|Date & Time||Wednesday June 13, 2018, 2:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Milwaukee Brewers -109 / Chicago Cubs -101 --- Over/Under: 9
Coming up from Miller Park on Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers will be continuing their MLB series.
In the opener Monday, the Cubs secured a 7-2 victory. On Tuesday, the Brewers bagged a 4-0 shutout, holding Chicago to just two hits on the evening.
For the Wednesday game, the Cubs will be bringing out LHP Mike Montgomery. In his 43.0 innings and 2-1 record this year, Montgomery has a 3.56 ERA with 25 Ks and 12 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Cubs this year is Kris Bryant with 65 hits, 36 runs and 29 RBI entering game two. On Tuesday, Bryant went 0-for-4.
Over on the Brewers’ side, they’re going with Jhoulys Chacin on Wednesday. Over 75.1 innings and a 5-1 record this year, Chacin has a 3.58 ERA with 57 Ks and 30 BBs.
Leading the way for the Brewers in hitting this season is Lorenzo Cain, who entered Tuesday with 67 hits, 37 runs and 21 RBI. In game two, Cain plated a pair of runs.
The Cubs are 2-5 in their last seven Wednesday games and 6-0 in Montgomery’s last six road starts. Chicago is also 5-1 in Montgomery’s last six starts with four days’ rest and 4-1 in his last five starts.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 7-2 in their last nine Wednesday games and 4-0 in Chacin’s last four home starts. Milwaukee is also 4-0 in Chacin’s last four starts and 7-1 in his last eight starts with four days’ rest.
Over his last three starts, Montgomery has allowed just two earned runs in a combined 17.2 innings. As for Chacin, he’s given up nine earned over two of his last three starts, and zero in the other. All things considered, I’m sticking with Montgomery to stay hot here and get the Cubs a win.
