Milwaukee Brewers +101 / Cincinnati Reds -111 O/U: 8
The Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers will finish up their quick two-game set on Wednesday in MLB activity.
In the Tuesday game, the Reds could only score in the first inning, but that was good enough to ride to a 3-0 shutout victory.
For Wednesday’s outing, the Reds will be going with Luis Castillo in the start. Over his 61.2 innings and 5-1 record this year, Castillo has a 1.90 ERA with 76 Ks and 25 BBs.
Cincinnati managed just four hits as a team for the game on Tuesday, but made them count. Nick Senzel had a nice night for the Reds, ripping a triple and plating a run.
Over on the Brewers’ side, they’re sending out Zach Davies on Wednesday. Across 52.2 innings and a 5-0 mark so far, Davies has a 1.54 ERA with 36 Ks and 16 BBs.
Milwaukee out-hit the Reds 6-4 on Tuesday, but couldn’t turn any of those hits into runs. Lorenzo Cain and Keston Hiura each had a pair of knocks for the Brewers there.
The Reds are 3-13 in their last 16 Wednesday games and 4-1 in Castillo’s last five starts versus the NL Central. Cincinnati is 6-2 in Castillo’s last eight starts versus a team with a winning record and they’re 4-1 in their last five in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series and 5-1 in Davies’ last six starts with five days’ rest. Milwaukee is 4-1 in Davies’ last five home starts and 7-3 in his last 10 starts.
Castillo has been on a really nice run this season, and he’s got five quality starts in his last eight tries, allowing more than two earned just once (four) in that span as well.
That said, Davies has been stellar as well, and he’s riding a three-game quality start streak.
This pitching matchup is definitely one to watch. The game is probably a coin flip but I’m giving a slight edge to the hometown Brewers.
