Milwaukee Brewers -120 / Colorado Rockies +100
The Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in game one of a four game set in MLB action from Miller Park on Monday night.
The Colorado Rockies will look to rebound after failing to complete the sweep of Atlanta, falling to the Braves by a final score of 8-7 on Sunday. Daniel Murphy led the Rockies with a home run and three RBIs while Ian Desmond went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and a double. Charlie Blackmon went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Tony Wolters added an RBI of his own as well in the defeat. Trevor Story went 2 for 4 with a double to cap off Colorado’s offense as a tea in the losing effort. Tyler Anderson allowed five runs on four hits while walking four and striking out nine over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Seung Hwan Oh took the loss, falling to 1-1 this season. Kyle Freeland will start game one and is 2-3 with a 4.23 ERA and 30 strikeouts this season. In his career, Freeland is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA and 13 strikeouts against Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to rebound after failing to complete the sweep of the New York Mets, dropping the series finale by a final score of 5-2 on Sunday. Mike Moustakas went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs to account for all of the Brew Crew’s scoring in the loss. Christian Yelich, Ben Gamel and Orlando Arcia each had a base hit to round out Milwaukee’s offense as the Brewers had just five hits as a team in the losing effort. Gio Gonzalez gave up two runs on six hits over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jacob Barnes took the loss, falling to 1-1 on the year. Zach Davies will start game one and is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA and 19 strikeouts this season. In his career, Davies is 1-1 with a 6.10 ERA and 9 strikeouts against Colorado.
Colorado is 5-1 in their last 6 road games and 10-3 in their last 13 games overall while the over is 7-2-1 in their last 10 Monday games. Milwaukee is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 3-9 in their last 12 games overall while the under is 8-2 in Davies’ last 10 home starts. Colorado is 1-6 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Milwaukee.
The Rockies haven’t had a ton of success in this matchup, and Davies has been very good to start out this season. However, Davies has also had issues in a small sample size against Colorado and the Rockies have been the hotter team over the last couple of weeks. I know Colorado didn’t finish the sweep against Atlanta, but getting the Rockies at this price feels like some solid value to kick off the series so I’ll take Colorado and the plus money on Monday.
