Colorado Rockies (58-51) at Milwaukee Brewers (64-49)
|Date & Time||Sunday August 5, 2018, 2:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Milwaukee Brewers +105 / Colorado Rockies -115 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Up at Miller Park on Sunday, the Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers will be finishing up their MLB set.
In the Friday opener, the Brewers managed a 5-3 win. On Saturday, the Brewers kept it going with a dicey 8-4 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Rockies will be bringing out RHP Jon Gray. Over 113.2 innings and a 9-7 record this season, Gray has a 4.99 ERA with 136 Ks and 34 walks.
The Rockies’ top hitter this year is Nolan Arenado, who entered the weekend with a slim lead on 120 hits, 72 runs, 28 homers and 80 RBI. On Saturday, Arenado came up empty.
As for the Brew Crew, they’re going with Wade Miley on Sunday. In his 29.1 innings and 2-1 mark this year, Miley has a 1.53 ERA with 17 Ks and 15 BBs.
Milwaukee’s big bat this season is Christian Yelich, who entered game two on 122 hits, 77 runs, 17 homers and 59 RBI. On Saturday, Yelich ripped three hits and plated a run.
The Rockies are 2-7 in their last nine Sunday games and 5-0 in Gray’s last five starts. Colorado is also 4-1 in Gray’s last five starts versus the NL Central and 1-8 in his last nine Sunday starts.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 1-6 in their last seven in game three of a series and 1-8 in their last nine Sunday games. The over is 7-0 in the Brewers’ last seven Sunday games and the under is 35-17-1 in their last 53 in game three of a series.
Gray has three straight quality starts to his credit, going a total of 21.1 innings with four earned runs and two wins in that time. As for Miley, he’s pitched well this season but we don’t have a huge body of work to judge him on. I’m going to stick with Gray to stay sharp here and go with Colorado for a win.
