The Line: Milwaukee Brewers +127 / Los Angeles Dodgers -137 --- Over/Under: 9
Coming up Sunday afternoon from Miller Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers will be finishing up their MLB weekend set.
The Dodgers banged out a 6-4 win in the Friday opener of this series, then on Saturday the Brewers came back with a 4-2 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Dodgers will be rolling out lefty Alex Wood for the start. Across 105.2 innings and a 5-5 mark this year, Wood has a 3.92 ERA with 94 Ks and 20 BBs.
The Dodgers’ lead hitter this year is new face Manny Machado, who came into the weekend on 115 hits, 48 runs, 24 homers and 65 RBI. On Saturday, Machado went 1-for-5.
Over on the Brewers’ side, they’re going with Brent Suter on Sunday. In his 98.1 innings and 8-6 mark this season, Suter has a 4.39 ERA with 81 Ks and 19 BBs.
Leading the hitters for the Brewers this season is Christian Yelich, who entered game two on 96 hits, 60 runs, 11 homers and 46 RBI. In game two, Yelich slapped a solo homer.
The Dodgers are 7-2 in their last nine Sunday games and 23-9 in their last 32 in game three of a series. LA is 7-1 in Wood’s last eight starts versus the NL Central and 29-14 in his last 43 starts.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 1-6 in their last seven in game three of a series and 1-6 in the last seven Sunday games. Milwaukee is also 7-3 in Suter’s last 10 starts and 6-1 in his last seven home starts.
Wood had a nice run going heading into the break, with five straight quality starts and a 3-0 mark in that time. As for Suter, he stumbled a bit at the end of June but was okay in Pittsburgh his last time out with 5.0 innings and one earned. I’m going to stick with Wood to keep it going here and take the Dodgers.
