The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers will be finishing up their MLB series on Sunday.

In the Friday opener of this set, the Brewers powered out a 10-4 win. On Saturday, Milwaukee came back from an early 0-2 deficit and pulled one out 5-3.

For the Sunday game, the Pirates will be sending out Steven Brault for the start. Across his 34.2 innings and 2-1 record this year, Brault has a 5.45 ERA with 29 Ks and 21 BBs.

Pittsburgh came up with eight hits in the Saturday loss, but couldn't score after the third inning. Kevin Newman and Adam Frazier each finished 2-for-4 there.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they’re going with Chase Anderson on Sunday. In his 36.2 innings and 3-1 mark so far, Anderson has a 3.93 ERA with 40 Ks and 14 BBs.

Milwaukee had some solid offensive outings in the Saturday win. One of those came from Mike Moustakas, with two hits and a solo homer (19 on the year).

The Pirates are 4-1 in Brault’s last five starts and 8-1 in his last nine versus the NL Central. Pitt is 5-2 in Brault’s last seven road starts and 4-1 in his last five on grass.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 4-1 in their last five Sunday games and 4-1 in Anderson’s last five starts versus the NL Central. Milwaukee is 1-5 in Anderson’s last six Sunday starts and 1-5 in his last six with four days’ rest.

Over his last four starts, Brault has been decent, with five earned in a span of 18.1 innings, but he’s also walked 12 batters and struck out 11 in that time.

As for Anderson, he’s had some issues here and there over his last three, with a total of nine earned in 13.0 innings overall.

I’m not super-pumped about the Pirates in this situation, but I think Brault and the number are good enough to take a chance here.
