The St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers will meet up on the MLB diamond Monday to kick off their series.

The Cardinals just finished up against the Reds this weekend. St. Louis lost the first game Saturday, then on Sunday the Cardinals dropped four runs in the first inning on the way to a 9-5 win. Marcel Ozuna had a two-homer game there, pouring in four RBI for St. Louis.

For the Monday game, the Cards are going with Dakota Hudson in the start. Over his 9.2 innings and 0-1 mark this year, Hudson has a 2.79 ERA with 10 Ks and seven BBs.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they took on the Dodgers this weekend. Milwaukee won the first two games in that set, then on Sunday the Brewers couldn't complete the sweep with a 7-1 loss.

For Monday’s outing, the Brewers will be sending Freddy Peralta to the hill. Across 14.1 innings and a 1-0 record this year, Peralta has a 6.91 ERA with 19 Ks and four walks.

The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five Monday games and 2-5 in their last seven in game one of a series. The over is 9-2 in St. Louis’ last 11 in game one of a series and 4-1 in their last five Monday games.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 16-5 in their last 21 Monday games and 38-15 in their last 53 in game one of a series. Milwaukee is 3-7 in their last 10 home games after a road trip of a week or more and the over is 4-1 in Peralta’s last five home starts.

Hudson had a few sketchy moments in his season debut (4.1 innings; three earned), but since then has been great with 5.1 innings and zero earned across two appearances.

As for Peralta, he was awesome in Cincinnati (zero earned; 8.0 innings; two hits) but otherwise he has 11 earned over 6.1 innings.

Unless Peralta gets locked in early here I don’t see the Brewers keeping up. I’m going with the Cardinals in this one.
