Headed our way Tuesday from Miller Park, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers will be continuing their MLB series.
In the Monday opener, the Brewers bagged three runs in the seventh inning en route to an 8-3 victory.
For Tuesday’s game, the Cardinals are going with Michael Wacha in the start. Over his 56.1 innings and 5-1 record this year, Wacha has a 2.88 ERA with 50 Ks and 21 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Cards coming into this set was Jose Martinez with 57 hits, 20 runs and 31 RBI. On Monday, Martinez came up empty 0-for-4.
As for the Brewers, they’re sending out Zach Davies for the start Tuesday. Across 38.0 innings and a 2-4 record this year, Davies has a 4.74 ERA with 27 Ks and 14 BBs.
Leading the way for the Brewers in hitting entering this set was Lorenzo Cain with 54 hits, 35 runs and 16 RBI. In the Monday game, Cain had an 0-for-4 day as well.
The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five in game two of a series and 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games. St. Louis is also 4-0 in Wacha’s last four Tuesday starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games and 23-9 in their last 32 in game two of a series. Milwaukee is also 4-1 in Davies’ last five Tuesday starts and 2-5 in his last seven starts.
Wacha has been a bright spot for the Cardinals this year, and he’s sitting on three straight quality starts with a total of four runs allowed. As for Davies, he had a solid run of three games going before allowing four earned in 4.0 innings his last time out. I have to go with Wacha to stay hot here so I’m taking the Cardinals.
