Milwaukee Brewers +100 / Washington Nationals -110 O/U: 8
The Washington Nationals and the Milwaukee Brewers will meet up on the MLB diamond Monday to kick off their series.
Washington is fresh off a set versus the Phillies. The Nationals split the first two games of that series, then in the rubber match on Sunday Washington fell 7-1 after giving up five runs in the sixth inning.
For the Monday game, the Nationals will be sending out Max Scherzer. In his 46.1 innings and 1-4 mark this year, Scherzer has a 4.08 ERA with 62 Ks and seven walks.
Over on the Brewers’ side, they just finished up against the Mets. Milwaukee took Friday’s game 3-1 and Saturday’s game 4-3, and on Sunday they completed the sweep with a 3-2 victory.
Milwaukee is going with Jhoulys Chacin on Monday for the start. Across 34.1 innings and a 3-3 record so far, Chacin has a 5.24 ERA with 26 Ks and 18 BBs.
The Nationals are 7-20 in their last 27 in game one of a series and 1-4 in their last five Monday games. The over is 4-1 in Washington’s last five Monday games and the under is 5-1 in their last six versus the NL Central.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-1 in their last six versus the NL East and 19-7 in their last 26 Monday games. Milwaukee is 5-2 in Chacin’s last seven Monday starts and 1-4 in his last five starts.
Looking at Chacin’s last four starts, he’s got two bad ones (10 earned in 6.1 innings on 16 hits combined), and two good ones (11.0 innings; two earned; seven hits) to his credit. The good news for Chacin and the Brewers is that those two bad starts were on the road, and he’s at home here.
I’m not in love with the pick, but Chacin should be solid enough to help Milwaukee get a win here.
