Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Up at Target Field on Thursday, the Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins will be kicking off their weekend MLB series.

The Orioles just finished up two games against the Phillies. After a 3-2 loss Tuesday, on Wednesday Baltimore lost 4-1.

For the Thursday start, the Orioles will be bringing out RHP Andrew Cashner. In his 88.1 innings and 2-8 record this year, Cashner has a 4.48 ERA with 71 Ks.

Manny Machado leads the charge for the Orioles this year with 100 hits, 42 runs, 21 homers and 59 RBI heading into Wednesday. In the Phillies finale, Machado was 0-for-3.

As for the Twins, they played the Brewers this week. Minnesota lost the first two games 6-5 and 2-0, then on Wednesday they fell again 3-2 despite a late homer by Eduardo Escobar.

On Thursday, the Twins will be starting RHP Aaron Slegers. This will be Slegers’ first start of the season following 5.1 innings of relief bak on May 30.

Eddie Rosario is tops on the Twins roster this season with 101 hits, 57 runs, 18 homers and 52 RBI coming into Wednesday. In that Brewers finale, Rosario went hitless.

The Orioles are 10-27 in their last 37 in game one of a series and 1-4 in their last five Thursday games. The under is 4-1 in Baltimore’s last five Thursday games and 21-8 in their last 29 in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Twins are 2-6 in their last eight Thursday games and 0-4 in their last four in game one of a series. The over is 6-0-1 in Minnesota’s last seven in game one of a series and the under is 21-7-1 in their last 29 Thursday games.

Over his last three starts, Cashner has been relatively solid with a 2.25 ERA and nine Ks, but he’s 0-0 in that time to show for it. As for Slegers, he gave up two runs in his 5.1 innings back in May, but it’s tough telling what he’ll look like in a starting role. This is probably a game to stay away from but I’m going to go with the more experienced Cashner and the Orioles.
